Extended Techniques Abbreviated: A Fringe Festival Performance

Extended Techniques, Abbreviated is an exploration of what a solo instrumental performance can be. Featuring a variety of solo pieces for various instruments, each performance will stretch what it means to “play” an instrument, and question what is considered “music.” Through improvisation, composition, household objects, and various frameworks, music will be made in unpredictable ways.

Eric McGarry and Jake Kaplan are in demand musicians and composers based in the Philadelphia region. Each artist has decades of traditional study of music under their belt, helping them achieve a vast and creative outlook on the art form.
