David Rivera y la Bámbula is a high-energy Afro–Caribbean ensemble led by master percussionist, composer, and cultural bearer David Rivera. Rooted in Afro-Puerto Rican bomba and plena, and electrified with Afro-Cuban, jazz, and global rhythms, the band delivers performances that are both ancestral and fiercely contemporary.
Driven by thunderous hand drums, call-and-response vocals, and irresistible grooves, la Bámbula transforms every stage into a communal celebration—where history, dance, and spirit converge. Rivera’s leadership blends deep scholarship with raw performance power, honoring the African diaspora while pushing rhythmic boundaries forward.
