About the event
The beloved Jazz Night concert series continues! Ensemble Novo celebrates the windswept melodies and perpetual-motion rhythms of Brazilian music. The five-piece band has been performing in the Philadelphia region for over a decade and has recorded a series of mini-albums that have been played on WXPN-FM and WRTI-FM as well as stations in Rio de Janeiro and across the globe. Its sound is a balance of moods and textures: The crystalline clarity of the vibraphone is crossed with the husky introspection of the tenor saxophone. Lively sparks from nylon-string guitar are animated by the crisp pulse of percussion. Ensemble Novo explores samba, bossa nova and Musica Popular Brazil (MPB) through the language of improvisation, creating a sound that’s propulsive and celebratory at the same time.
Guests will be treated to an evening of art, captivating music and light refreshments in the Museum’s elegant Edgar N. Putman Event Pavilion. Refreshments and Museum admission are included in ticket price.
