Please join Ars Nova Workshop in celebrating the life and legacy of John Coltrane on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth. A week of performances culminates with the duo of Marilyn Crispell and Tyshawn Sorey at the Mandell Theater on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

Marilyn Crispell has become one of the most original and sought-after avant-garde jazz pianists and composers since emerging on the scene in the late 1970s. The adventurous and distinctive Crispell has performed and recorded extensively with well-known players on the jazz scene, as well as performing and recording music by contemporary composers such as Robert Cogan, Pozzi Escot, John Cage, Pauline Oliveros, and Manfred Niehaus, and played in the NYC Opera’s production of Anthony Davis’ opera X in 1986.
