Player One and the Mad Catz (Nostalgia Fishtown)

Formed in 2023, Player One and the Mad Catz are a Philadelphia-based 5 piece jazz fusion ensemble dedicated to the new tradition of adopting video game music into modern standards for improvisatory exploration and re-arrangement. Their mission is twofold: first, to use the nearly bottomless catalog of classic video game tunes as a platform for improvisation and self expression, and the second, to build a community experience akin to the glory days of splitscreen multiplayer gaming. The Mad Catz draw from games such as Mario, Sonic, Persona, Zelda, Castlevania, Metroid, Pokemon, Street Fighter, and many more to create unique jazz, funky, and psychedelic music.
