The Song is You(se): Songs about Songs is our all-new salon exploring composer and songwriting teams’ favorite subject: music itself.
The Song is You(se) title is a Philadelphia riff on one of the most famous “songs about songs,” composer Jerome Kern and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II’s 1932 jazz classic, “The Song Is You.”
In addition to that title track, we’ll feature some of the most celebrated and well-known tunes from some of the greatest composers and songwriting teams, including offerings from Barry Manilow, The Carpenters, The Mamas and the Pappas, Harold Arlen & Yip Harburg, Rodgers & Hart, Kander & Ebb, and Andrew Lloyd Webber, as well as some lesser-known gems.
We’ll also share a very special tribute to one of the greatest songwriters of all time who left us way too soon and now, with her sparkling, sequined wings, is looking down…
