Dave Mattock is a professional pianist, organist, and keyboard player based near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. With a career spanning over two decades, Dave has established himself as a versatile and dynamic performer in the jazz and contemporary music scenes. He is the founder and owner of the Mattock School of Music, where he dedicates his time to teaching and mentoring aspiring musicians.
Dave holds a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Performance from Temple University and a Master's degree in Jazz History and Research from Rutgers University. He is a faculty member at Camden County College and the University of Pennsylvania, where he teaches piano, music theory, jazz history, and more.
As a performer, Dave leads several groups, including The Tap Room Trio, Ship of Fools, and Funktap. Dave's extensive recording career includes four full-length jazz albums under his own name and numerous recordings as a sideman. His compositions have been featured on various TV shows and advertisements
Dave is an active member of his local community and has been a board member of the Kennett Flash, a non-profit music performance venue, since 2017, serving as its President since 2020. He is also a board member of If Not For Music, and non-profit that raises money for kids to study music. When he's not performing or teaching, Dave can be found freelancing around Philadelphia in various jazz ensembles, cover bands, and studio sessions.
