Baltimore’s Lafayette Gilchrist makes his long-awaited Philly debut, leading his powerhouse ensemble New Volcanoes in Move With Love. Fusing jazz, funk, go-go, and hip-hop, Gilchrist delivers a pulse-pounding ride of rhythm and resistance. This is music that moves bodies and minds.
Satellite Sound returns with three unforgettable concerts co-curated with WRTI’s J. Michael Harrison, host of The Bridge, amplifying fearless jazz voices across generations and cultures.
For 56 years, the Painted Bride Art Center has bridged jazz and justice, hip-hop and heritage, performance and protest. From Jazz on Vine in 1975 to global-minded Jazz Jaunts and next-generation showcases like Fresh Cut from the Vine, the Bride has carried jazz forward as a living, evolving practice.
Co-curated with WRTI’s J. Michael Harrison, host of The Bridge, this fall’s three-part edition of Satellite Sound carries the Bride’s jazz legacy into the present, spanning bebop, hip-hop, and global soul while spotlighting fearless new voices shaping the future.
